Marketing

Johan Horak runs a social media consultancy business; working with small, medium and enterprise companies on developing Social CRM, and Social Media strategies. The idea is that you use your current database of friends, prospects, and clients, etc, and instead of keeping them in your database you find where they are socializing at Twitter, Facebook and you cultivate trusting relationships. You also start listening to your customers and prospects, because they are talking about you…..and if you are not socially connected they will talk about you with out you knowing about it. A short ebook to read is one I wrote called The Fisherman’s Secret on my social media philosophy.

Before an social media project commence the business needs to agree on a social media strategy: This means that we will ensure that everyone works together. Everyone. The major decision makers must be agreeing and get involved. If not then forget the implementation of your social media strategy. Because social media is not a quick fix, it will take time and there will be a lot of learning. The strategy will help all sing from the same book. Where do you start? It may sound ridiculous, but you start where it’s easy and normally that’s with a blog from where an automated newsletter is published. Then start writing social media policy and involve the staff.

Social media integration is a function of design. If you start  with a social media project you may as well integrate you efforts instead of duplicating them. What does this mean? Let’s say you start with an online newsletter, then you want to auto publish the updates to your email database, to your Facebook page and to Twitter.
